The first night in Paris, we wandered our way down to Pigalle and took a confused walk, up to Montmarte, in search of artistes to sketch our likeness, and as expected, we found a long fascinating stretch of sex marts, a cabaret location and a splendid basilica. It was then, when we plugged into Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose and my goodness! We are in PARIS!

Paris is beautiful.

Sainte Chapelle was a veritable jewel box, wonderfully coloured and dedicated to the glorious word of God.

Streets of Paris

The most orgasmic meal! The thought of it still makes me salivate.

Eiffel Tower- in the day, at night, up close, shimmering- a lacework of metal frames.

The gardens of Versailles Palace.

Arc de Triomphe. The biggest victory arc in the world. And of course, Champs Elysee and the flagship store of Louis Vuitton.

I love the Louvre. I think I can spend days wandering around.

If, I could say something to the girl I was a year ago, I would tell her not to worry. I would laugh at her, for the little peep hole through which she views the world. Because In spite of all her thickheadedness and myopia, He who is great and glorious would take care of everything.

Today, my choice for lunch was beef curry or braised beef with mash- both spectacularly unappetising after the roast beef dinner yesterday night. To add to the odd nightmare, the only meat in my freezer is beef: lean diced casserole beef, lean minced beef and rump steak. O my goodness, I am going to puke blood and die.

Random.

We took a trip down to London (again!) for Hwa Chong Night. London isn’t boring but I think I must be a really boring person. Let’s see, I spent the time devouring 烧腊 at Baywater’s Gold Mine, visiting the dinosaurs (bones and whatever remains) at the museum, Japanese food with May May and Guano- that was really quite fun,  grocery shopping at Leicester Sq- more like tidbits shopping and then buying more roast duck for dinner at Mabel’s. That’s all for the entire weekend! There is a repetitive pattern of eating and roast duck in my life! 

Hwa Chong Night was odd- I think because there were too many unfamiliar faces of the younger batches and some vaguely familiar faces of the guys in my batch that I kept wrecking my brains to place. But there were mass dances and my favourite Hwa Chong songs, plus, I got to see ZY dance  after his flagrant ponning of mass dance sessions in school! Hah!

O my goodness! Jap food cravings again. And finally this time, Obento didn’t disappoint. We had very authentic ramen and sushi  

More good food in the day. Valentine’s Day is a day for eating I think. Food at Beefeater was generally not bad but for that price, the food could definitely be heated up and not served almost- cold.  

We bus-ed down to Cardiff to visit ZY’s Aunt on the friday of the second weekend of chinese new year. Then, she drove us up to Swansea where there were BEACHES, the sea, greens and hills but the air was just too chilly for me to appreciate the beaches- beaches must at least be of the Sentosa variety- scorching hot and filled with masses of sweaty oily bodies rolling around in the white sand. This is a non-authentic beach, or so I declare.

On that Saturday, we went down to London for an awesome chinese new year dinner at Mabel’s- drunken chicken, fatt choi with mushrooms, mui choi with pork, lotus root soup, rendang beef, various fritters and glutinous rice balls. Very chinesenewyearsy!

Mummy spent 4 days in Bristol over Chinese New Year. She walked rounds and rounds at Calbot Circus and averaged 3 shopping bags a day… I think she got really bored in the end. And every time I tried to accompany her, she will tell me to go away and do my stuff and that she didn’t need me to entertain her. Waaaaaa…. I love my mummy- she came all the way here even though she absolutely dislikes England and the cold. 

团圆饭@Zen

On a random day with an un- random guy, prior to random shopping at the not- so random shopping centre (there is only ONE Calbot Circus so it can’t be random even if it wanted to be), we had a focused single thought of having roast meat at the random HK Diner. But we had other random stuff like lotus soup and some random 珍珠奶茶， which was obviously randomly made with horribly random, non- authentic powdery pearls. 

The willingness to pay the price for  叉烧, 烧肉 and 烧鸭 in this country provides me with one of the greatest random mystery in my not-so-random life.

As you can see, I am being very random today. I feel like eating 蛋挞.

The smallest sovereign nation in the world… 

Quite breathtaking- frescoes in the apartments and the Sistine chapel. 

Last dinner in Italy: 

Rome- the great city with almost three thousand years of history overflowing at every inch and corner. There are so many monuments, each and everyone of them grand and resplendent. However, more than half of them were lying in ruins and covered with history and forgotten memories. Still, Rome is indeed an impressive city. 

The Colosseum, the massive monument which requires alot of imagination in order to picture what it was, rather than what it is now. Imagine such a huge and I would say technologically, achitecturally advanced arena thousands of years ago, being filled with 11, 000 beasts and gladiators. Whoa! Must have been a spectacle and a terrible waste wasn’t it? All for the entertainment and sport for the rich and powerful. How many people would have died there?

I really enjoyed Rome.
