Whimsical Dialogue

Just between you and me…

London Again November 18, 2008

Left Bristol at 3.40am (insane hour) and arrived in London at 6am (even insane-lier hour) where we had Macs breakfast, headed down to Northolt where Auntie Jackie was and got stuffed with Breakfast II by Auntie Jackie. I am solemnly in serious weight trouble.

Sadly, we couldn’t catch a play so we ended up spending the whole day in Westfield with Auntie Jackie. Westfield was huge, the biggest urban shopping centre in Europe was daunting and absolutely confusing. In that mess, I bought so much stuff- two boots, Guess jeans (prettiest pair I have ever laid eyes on), Guess top, more tops and they are all lying on my room floor because I am too lazy to unpack.

Dining on Indian food.

The next day, we went down to South Kensington for service at Holy Trinity Brompton and lunch at Kensington Creperie. ZJ was retarded, as usual.

Walked a lot from South Ken to Harrods to Hyde Park to Oxford Street to Regent Street and then to Leicester Square, which by then, we were tuckered out.

At Auntie Jackie’s, where I have created a huge mess in the living room with bags of shoppings, chinese groceries (including salted fish and 5 cans of chilli and more that you don’t want to know). We had simple kuay teow soup for dinner and it was lovely.

Dinner at Carole’s November 18, 2008

Carole rustled up one of the yummiest home- cooked meals we had- Ovened garlic and cheese mushroom topped with bacon; Meatballs and Braised Chicken. Ben spent the night brushing up on his cantonese swear words and trying to match- make Patrick to Carole.

Highlands November 17, 2008

Highlands was simply stunning and breath- taking. Everyday, we woke up to fresh air, awesome landscape and a day’s worth of good humour.

I love Hamish, doesn’t he look really adorable? Being a sucker, I have a mini soft toy of Hamish hanging in my hostel room now.

Kilt Rock was a rock that looked like kilt pleats, legend has it that a giant was tricked into hanging his kilt there and had to go butt- naked.

We went monster spotting at the Loch Ness, obviously a failure, save for a few ripples here and there, which we excitedly convinced ourselves that Nessie was stirring below.

Edinburgh November 13, 2008

Jiejie, I see your msg. I haven’t disappeared but just overwhelmed by numerous things to pen down my thoughts and showcase my life in pictures. But, here are some parts of it.

The Edinburgh Castle forms the backdrop of the wonderfully packed Prince Street, with it’s numerous boutiques and random souvenir shops  blasting Scottish bagpipish music. Ben and I loved the starbucks- huge window looking out into the most gorgeous view (the only thing is… no free wireless). I wish I had more time to just spend a day reading there.

Then we went off to Edinburgh Castle, a practically must go since it is so in-your-face. Beautiful castle and fascinating medieval history- blood, war and a dead Queen. It was really great to see the London and Stocks people in Edinburgh, almost a sense of amazement that we were all so far away from home.

Sarah and I went searching for the same inspiration that JK Rowlings had when she penned Harry Potter at the Elephant Room, we didn’t find any in that cozy little cafe but we had a satisfying lunch.

Being in UK makes me seafood deprived and looking back at these pictures makes me feel even sadder! We landed in Mussel Inn for an expensive dinner on our last night in Edinburgh.

I promise that I shan’t be lazy and the next update will be REALLY soon!
